Gmail, Google Apps

There are two ways of using gmail, gapps as SMTP source. You can use the default gmail or you can enable two factor authentication. We suggest you to use 2-factor authentication on gmail and gapps. Find below the necessary actions for the specified methods:

  1. Using gmail-gapps with 2 factor authentication

If you are using 2FA you need to generate an app password for a better security

    1. Go to app passwords page on your google account

    2. Select App type as Mail and Device as Other (You can name it as Merchbees if you like)

    3. Copy the generated app password. You will use this password as account password when filling out SMTP details.

  2. Using gmail-gapps without 2 factor authentication

If you are using this method, you need to change two settings on your google account.
